A fire is said to have broken out as a result of the attack, which is attributed to Ukraine's Special Operations Forces (SSO).

“The distance from the state border of Ukraine is almost 2,500 kilometers,” the General Staff writes on Telegram.

The refinery is said to be Russia's largest in terms of total annual crude oil processing capacity.

"This is the deepest long-range attack on enemy territory during the entire full-scale invasion," the SSO writes.

According to information provided to The Kyiv Independent, Ukraine has also attacked an oil refinery in Yaroslavl, northeast of Moscow, as well as the energy giant Novatek's facility in Ust-Luga on the Gulf of Finland.
