Zelenskyy says Russian attacks show Moscow does not want an energy ceasefire

Several energy facilities in Ukraine were attacked overnight, despite Donald Trump’s claim that Ukraine and Russia had agreed to an energy ceasefire. “It is becoming increasingly obvious that Russia does not want a ceasefire,” Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote on X, responding to the US president’s claim.

Russia attacked six Ukrainian energy facilities on Monday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote, adding that at least 33 people were injured.

"This is what happens when Russia sees opportunities for higher revenues for its war machine," Zelenskyy wrote, calling for increased foreign pressure on Russia "if we are serious about ending Russia's wars."

In an interview with Fox News, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was ready for the ceasefire already announced by Trump, but that he did not believe Russia was. He also said Ukraine had refrained from attacking energy facilities on Monday night, calling the Russian attacks "a response to Trump's initiative."

The Russian message was very clear: they do not know of any energy ceasefire.

Denies responsibility for diesel price

During a security conference in Warsaw on Monday, Zelenskyy said, according to the AFP news agency, that he had heard about the ceasefire through the media, but that it must have escaped Russian President Vladimir Putin:

Putin obviously doesn't read Truth Social, he said, referring to the social media platform that Trump often communicates through.

Trump has repeatedly urged Ukraine to stop attacking Russian energy facilities because "it is causing fuel shortages" and driving up diesel prices - something Zelenskyy rejects.

"Everyone understands that the price of diesel is not dependent on our attacks on Russian diesel. Everyone understands that (the high) price is due to the Strait of Hormuz being blocked," he told Fox News.

At least three dead

The head of the regional military administration in Dnipropetrovsk region wrote on Telegram that Russia had targeted three districts in the region.

In Zhytomyr region, the governor said railway and energy infrastructure had been “repeatedly” shelled.

At least three people, including a minor girl, were killed in attacks on Kramatorsk in Donetsk region, and the region's military leaders accused Russia of "deliberate attacks to maximize civilian deaths."
