Ukraine's parliament has unanimously approved the mineral agreement, says the country's Deputy Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko.

According to the minister, Kyiv's hope is that the agreement will pave the way for future military support from Washington.

"This document is not just a legal construct – it is the foundation for a new model of interaction with an important strategic partner", writes Svyrydenko on X.

338 members voted for the agreement, writes MP Jaroslav Zjeleznjav on the messaging service Telegram. No one voted against or abstained.

In late April, it was announced that the USA and Ukraine had agreed on an agreement that gives the USA access to Ukrainian natural resources such as critical minerals, oil, and gas.

The US Finance Minister Scott Bessent has called the agreement a historic "economic partnership agreement".
