Ukraine has now determined how the country will respond to any violations of the ceasefire by Russia.

On X, President Zelenskyy wrote that "We are all aware of who we are dealing with. Ukraine will observe the ceasefire and respond only in kind. If there are no Russian attacks in the air, on the ground or at sea, there will be no responses from our side either," he wrote, adding that Ukraine's responses should mirror those of the Russians.

"The Ukrainian army is ready for all eventualities," he wrote.

The ceasefire is scheduled to begin on Saturday and last throughout Sunday. Earlier in the war, a number of short ceasefires have been declared, but both sides have accused each other of violating them.

However, Ukraine is reporting several deaths in Russian attacks since late Friday and early Saturday. Russia is said to have fired at least 160 drones at Ukraine during that time.

A total of four people have been killed. One person died and 15 were injured in attacks on the Ukrainian city of Poltava and the border region of Sumy. In Odesa, two people were killed and two more were injured.

Russian authorities, in turn, claim that a wave of Ukrainian drones started a fire at an oil depot and damaged an apartment building in the southern Russian Krasnodar region. Two people were also reportedly killed in a Ukrainian drone attack on the Russian-occupied part of the Donetsk region.
