The meeting was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Wednesday. The Ukrainian team is led by chief negotiator Rustem Umyrov from the Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.
The talks are to be held on Thursday with Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff in Geneva, Switzerland. There are plans to try to hold a trilateral meeting with Russian representatives again in the future, with the US as intermediary.
Previous attempts at talks in Geneva and Abu Dhabi have not led to any direct progress in efforts to end the full-scale Russian war of aggression in Ukraine.
According to Witkoff, a meeting may be held in Florida, the US.
