The arrest is linked to the corruption scandal in the country's energy sector that shook Ukraine last year.
NABU does not name former energy and justice minister Herman Halushchenko in its statement, but he served as the country's energy minister last year and resigned in November.
"Initial investigative procedures are ongoing and are being conducted in accordance with legal requirements and court orders. Details will follow," NABU announced.
Halushchenko was one of several ministers who resigned in 2025 after a money laundering conspiracy in the country's energy sector was exposed.
