Most of the projectiles that Russia fired at its neighboring country during the night were drones. About half of them were shot down and a large part disappeared due to electronic interference, according to Ukraine.
The Air Force spokesperson Jurij Ihnat says to AP that the attack was record-large and targeted regions across Ukraine, including the country's western parts that are far from the front line.
Polish planes took off to ensure safety in Polish airspace.
Several media outlets report that an F16 plane crashed while the Russian attack was being repelled, and that the pilot died. It is the third F16 plane that Ukraine has lost in the war.
In Cherson, one person is reported to have been killed by a drone.
