Several people are reported to have been injured in a Russian attack on a children's hospital in Cherson. During the morning, reports came in that dark smoke billowed in several places over Crimea, after Ukraine launched a drone attack on oil facilities on the Russian-occupied peninsula.

At least nine people have been injured in a Russian attack on a children's hospital in the city of Cherson, according to Ukrainian reports.

Four of the injured are said to be children, according to Ukrainian officials who accuse Russia of war crimes, writes AFP.

Russia has on several occasions attacked healthcare facilities during its full-scale invasion of Ukraine, but claims that it is only targeting military sites.

"Targeting medical institutions and civilian infrastructure is not warfare – it is pure terrorism and a serious violation of international humanitarian law", writes Ukraine's Prime Minister Julia Svyrydenko on X.

Early on Wednesday morning, powerful explosions were reported at Hvardijiske, a village with a large oil depot. The Kyiv Independent writes that it is the third time in October that the depot has been attacked. Somewhat later, reports emerged that a fuel warehouse in Simferopol had exploded.

Ukraine has for several months on a large scale attacked Russia's infrastructure for fossil fuels. Partly, it affects Russian warfare when fuel deliveries to the country's military decrease, partly it affects export revenues that finance the war.

According to the news agency Reuters, Russia's export of oil products decreased by 17 percent in September compared to August.
