More than 360 drones attacked targets mainly in central and western Ukraine on Wednesday, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. The attacks followed a wave of Russian strikes overnight, involving 339 drones, as Russian ground forces launched an offensive in eastern Ukraine.
At least four people were killed in a drone attack in Cherkasy, while another person was killed in an attack on a civilian car in the Kherson region.
In the western city of Lutsk, a postal terminal was set on fire by drones. Food storage buildings were destroyed.
Zelenskyy wrote on social platforms on Wednesday that Kyiv had proposed a ceasefire during Easter, but received Shahed drones, an Iranian-made drone used by Russia, in response.
In his evening speech, Zelensky said he had "positive" conversations with President Donald Trump's envoys Witkoff and Kushner about the peace process.
"We talked about how diplomacy can be strengthened, what steps are possible, but also about security guarantees and how Europeans can be included," Zelenskyy said.
Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte and US Republican Senator Lindsey Graham also participated in the talks, according to Zelenskyy.
