1 001 560 Russian soldiers are described as "eliminated", a term that includes both dead and so severely injured that they are not expected to be able to return to the battlefield.
"Russia's three-day 'special military operation' is going according to plan," Ukraine's Ministry of Defence wrote sarcastically on Thursday, referring to the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not want to call it a war.
Ukraine's numbers cannot be confirmed independently, but compilations by Western experts have previously also come up with estimates that at least hundreds of thousands of Russians have fallen.
Russia, on the other hand, claims that similar extremely high numbers apply to Ukraine as well.
