Kyiv said on Friday that several so-called reconnaissance drones have entered Ukrainian airspace, and that the drones "probably" had Hungarian origin.

”Initial investigations show that (the drones) have carried out” explorations in Ukraine's border areas, writes President Volodymyr Zelenskyj on X. It is unclear when the intrusions are supposed to have occurred, more than that they occurred "recently".

Hungary denies the allegations. Hungary's Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó writes on social media that Zelenskyj "is starting to see things that are not there" and that he is "losing his mind".

Hungary is the EU country that has maintained the closest contact with Moscow after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022.

Hungary has intensified its criticism of the regime in Kyiv recently, with a raised tone in Ukraine's response. Hungary has, among other things, opposed a future Ukrainian EU membership.
