Luckily, the children were in the school's shelter, says Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj in his evening speech.

At least 17 children are among the injured in Sumy, located in northeastern Ukraine, according to Zelenskyj.

Every day is like this, every night with Russian robots and drones against our country. Every day of the war means losses, pain, and destruction that Ukraine has never asked for, he says.

Four destroyed helicopters

Ukraine's military reports that four Russian helicopters have been destroyed in the Russian region of Belgorod. These are said to be two smaller attack helicopters and two larger transport helicopters.

The Ukrainian military has spread an unverified black-and-white video that is supposed to show the attacks. It shows several explosions and smoke clouds near helicopters standing in a landing area in open terrain.

According to Ukrainian sources, the attack was carried out with American weapons, the rocket artillery Himars. Ukraine claims to have totally destroyed more than 300 Russian military helicopters during the large-scale war. War analysts have collected documentation showing that at least 120 and more have been damaged.

100 attack drones

Fighting has continued to rage on the ground along the front line and national border, between the Ukrainian city of Charkiv and the Russian city of Belgorod.

On Sunday evening and night, Russia sent nearly 100 attack drones against different parts of Ukraine. Of 99, 57 were shot down, according to the Ukrainian air force. A large number are said to have crashed at unknown locations.

At least four civilians are reported to have been killed in these Russian attacks: two in frontline communities in Donetsk in the east and two in Sumy.

During the previous day, a number of Ukrainian civilians were killed in various attacks, including three people in the capital Kyiv.
