The IOC lifted the ban on Russian Olympic participation earlier in July and at the same time lifted a series of restrictions on Russian athletes, which had previously been imposed as a result of the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
On Wednesday, Ukraine announced that it had appealed the decision to ease restrictions on Russian athletes, which it believes was hasty and contrary to the Olympic Charter.
The IOC's decision paved the way for Russian athletes to participate in team events and qualifying competitions, under the Russian flag, ahead of the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
Neither the IOC nor Russia has yet commented on the appeal.
