The exchange of a total of 400 prisoners of war took place on Thursday after mediation by the United Arab Emirates and the United States, according to the Russian Defense Ministry.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, Moscow and Kyiv have agreed that a total of 1,000 prisoners of war will be handed over to their respective countries.
The prisoner exchange is scheduled to take place on Thursday and Friday. "There will be an exchange ... 500 for 500," Russian negotiator Vladimir Medinsky wrote on the Telegram messaging app.
The prisoner exchange agreement was made during the previous trilateral and indirect talks in Geneva, where representatives of the United States also participated.
