"185 Russian soldiers have been returned from territory controlled by Kyiv," the Defense Ministry in Moscow announced on Friday, according to the state news agency RIA.
In return, an equal number of Ukrainian prisoners of war have been handed over, it said.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wrote late Thursday on X that his country was ready for a prisoner exchange.
The countries have exchanged thousands of prisoners of war during the more than four-year-long full-scale war.
