Over the coming days, a large-scale exchange of prisoners, 1,000 for 1,000, says Russian representative Vladimir Medinsky in a televised statement.

Ukraine's Defense Minister Rustem Umjerov says, according to Kyiv, that Ukraine and Russia have agreed on a date for the exchange, but "we will not say it yet".

Earlier in May, the two countries released 205 war prisoners each. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyj then stated that soldiers who defended the coastal city of Mariupol were among those exchanged.
