At least a second place in the B-World Cup was required to advance to the top tier of ice hockey.
In the final round, Ukraine was the first to do so, beating Japan 3-1. Later, Lithuania beat Poland after extra time, securing Ukraine's place in the top division next year.
"It's unbelievable. We can't understand what happened. Our blood, our passion and the love we have for the sport and our supporters. We achieved this result together," says Tracht.
The last time Ukraine played in the A-World Cup was in 2007, SVT writes. Kazakhstan, which won the group, also qualified.
