The legislation to make assisted suicide legal was put to a vote for the second time. On Friday, 270 members of parliament voted in favour and 286 against the proposal, which is thus stopped.
"It's only a matter of time before we bring this proposal back," says Labour MP Kim Leadbeater, who has campaigned for the law, reports the BBC .
The bill is identical to the one voted through in June last year - then it stalled and was declared invalid before it was formally passed in the House of Lords.
The bill proposes to make assisted dying legal for people in England and Wales who have less than six months to live.
