“For too long, this terrible conflict has been neglected, while the suffering has simply increased,” said British Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper.
Britain has previously pledged 120 million pounds to Sudan over the course of a year. Two of the new five million pounds pledged will be spent on support for victims of sexual violence in al-Fashir.
"Cruelty, mass executions, starvation and the devastating use of rape as a weapon of war, with women and children bearing the brunt of the greatest humanitarian crisis of the 21st century," the State Department wrote in a statement.
