Just as when the EU approved the purchase at the end of July, the UK has received certain assurances before approving the deal - which is worth the equivalent of SEK 1,000 billion.
Among other things, Paramount has promised to buy British children's programmes for its children's channels and that Channel 5, which is owned by Paramount, will "maintain its editorial integrity" and continue to focus on the UK, writes Variety .
Prosecutors in several US states have filed lawsuits in an effort to block the deal on anti-competitive grounds.
According to documents filed with the court by Paramount, the acquisition is not expected to be completed until June next year.
