Uganda's running stars Jacob Kiplimo and Joshua Cheptegei will both miss the World Championship in athletics in Tokyo for personal reasons.
Kiplimo, 24, was earlier this year the first to run a half marathon in under 57 minutes when he recorded 56.42 in a race in Barcelona.
Cheptegei, 28, won Olympic Games gold on 5,000 meters in Tokyo 2021 and followed up with a new gold on 10,000 meters in Paris last year.
We respect the personal reasons, says Don Rukare, chairman of Uganda's Olympic committee.
The World Championship in Tokyo starts on September 13.
