The accident occurred when a school bus full of children, for an unclear reason, veered off the road on its way back to the capital, Kampala, after a field trip.
"The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which left the road, collided with a large rock along the side of the road and overturned," police said on X.
An adult also died. Several more people were injured.
Fatal traffic accidents occur relatively frequently in Uganda, which is attributed, among other things, to poorly maintained roads.
