UEFA says no hydration breaks in Champions League and other competitions next season after World Cup criticism

UEFA told German broadcaster ARD this after the new element in World Cup matches drew harsh criticism.

Critics have said the hydration breaks, one in each half, disrupt the rhythm of matches and allow coaches to change tactics.

The International Football Association Board (IFAB) introduced the hydration breaks because of the heat in North America.

UEFA says that hydration breaks should only be considered in extreme temperatures.
