The Times reports that the boycott is being lifted. Earlier this summer, the international football federation FIFA proposed selling shares in, among other things, the World Cup to private investors.
The proposal triggered a wave of criticism against FIFA President Gianni Infantino. Among other things, UEFA member states agreed to boycott FIFA competitions.
The proposal was scrapped, and UEFA has reportedly now received assurances that FIFA will never again proceed with selling World Cup shares. The promise is said to have led UEFA to drop the boycott threat.
The news is expected to become official after the UEFA Executive Committee meeting on Thursday.
But that doesn't mean Infantino is safe. According to The Times, UEFA's goal remains to replace the FIFA president.
