The European football association's (Uefa) board is considering suspending Israeli teams from all competitions due to the war in Gaza, according to both AP and The Times.

According to information to the news agency AP and The Times, the majority of Uefa's board members are positive to Israel being suspended. The Times reports that the proposal to suspend Israel will be put to a vote in Uefa's board, but the information has not been confirmed by Uefa.

At the same time, it is reported that the President of the USA, Donald Trump, wants to try to stop an exclusion of Israel.

We will absolutely work to completely stop all attempts to ban Israel's national team from the World Championship, says a spokesperson from the US Department of State to Sky News.

Should Israel be excluded, it is not clear what will happen in the World Championship qualifying, since it is formally arranged by the International Football Association (Fifa). The Norwegian news agency NTB writes that it is Uefa that is responsible for organizing the matches, while Fifa handles the disciplinary rules.

Norway meets Israel in Oslo in the World Championship qualifying on October 11.
