The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will begin building a water pipeline between Egypt and al-Mawasi in southern Gaza within the coming days, reports the Times of Israel, citing the unit within Israel's Ministry of Defense responsible for civilian issues in Gaza (Cogat).
In a statement, Cogat writes that the unit approved the United Arab Emirates' initiative a few weeks ago. It states that the pipeline will supply approximately 600,000 people with water and be independent of the Israeli water pipelines.
"The construction of the pipeline will commence within the coming days and is expected to continue for several weeks," the statement reads.
