While waiting for a clear agreement between Iran and Oman, Iran has, according to the United Arab Emirates, attacked an oil tanker in the strait.
The emirate's Foreign Ministry said, according to AFP, that an oil tanker belonging to the state-owned oil company ADNOC was attacked while the ship was passing through the strait, which is so important for world trade.
According to the Emirati Foreign Ministry, it was a rocket attack. No one was reported to have died in the incident. Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have condemned the attack, according to Al Jazeera .
Does not open the strait
Oman also condemned the attack, but without mentioning Iran by name. However, the State Department says that “the ongoing negotiations regarding navigation in the Strait of Hormuz are proceeding in a positive and constructive spirit” and urges other nations not to jeopardize progress.
In various statements, Iran has confirmed the success of the talks, but also warned, according to Al Jazeera, that an agreement with Oman will not automatically open the strait.

Violating agreements
Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi continues on that line, writing on Telegram that the US must compensate Iran for violating the agreement the countries signed in Islamabad in June.
According to Araghchi, the US has, among other things, attempted to create new routes through the Strait of Hormuz, which were not approved by Iran and were not included in the agreement. This and other violations of the agreement are, according to the minister, "not acceptable under any circumstances," he writes.
