The child became trapped between a bedside cabinet and a wall during a break, when an employee accidentally lifted the bed the child was in.
"The incident is a great human tragedy and everyone involved is deeply shocked by the situation," said police officer Marko Särkkä.
The accident occurred early last week. The child died on Thursday. The incident is being investigated as manslaughter.
