Pavan was there to take part in this week's DP World Tour, formerly the European Tour. Organizers have confirmed that the Italian has withdrawn from the event due to injury, but have not given any further details, citing "medical confidentiality."
Golf Channel reports that the 36-year-old called the elevator at his residence, and then fell three floors and needed to be taken to the hospital.
Pavan's colleagues told the site that he suffered injuries to his back and shoulder, and underwent surgery on Wednesday evening.
"From what I've heard, he's in good spirits, grateful to be alive and video chatting with his kids," said Pavan's former coach JT Higgins.
