Only 3 percent of respondents are positive about AI-generated books. Young adults are particularly skeptical, with a full 72 percent expressing negative views.
According to the report, authenticity and a human voice are crucial for readers. Other reasons for the negative attitude include loyalty to writers as a profession and the perception that AI-written literature is of low quality.
Printed books are the most popular format and are read daily by 16 percent of the population, while 10 percent listen to audiobooks every day.
Bookstores and libraries are still the main sources for obtaining literature.
The report is based on 1,031 interviews conducted by Kantar Media.
