Palestinian authorities say Israeli forces and settlers entered a village outside Ramallah. Two of the victims are identified as teenage boys, and public mourning is underway in the village.
A local official told AFP that Israeli settlers came there to steal sheep and that an initial confrontation was followed by Israeli soldiers “besieging the village.” According to him, they opened fire on Palestinians who approached the settlers.
The Israeli military says they were going to retrieve livestock stolen from settlers - and that “terrorists” then began throwing stones during a riot.
"The forces responded by opening fire on the main instigators to eliminate the threat. Hits were confirmed," a dispatch said, without mentioning any deaths.
