Tom Willander and Marcus Pettersson each scored a point as Vancouver took their third straight victory. But it was a goal-scoring American who stole the show.

Vancouver continues its winning streak in the NHL with a 4-1 win over the New York Islanders last night. The team took an early lead, 3-0 after the first period.

Vancouver can thank American Kiefer Sherwood for the four goals, who scored a hat trick during the match. He can, in turn, be happy about the Swedish duo Willander and Pettersson, who each made an assist for his goal.

"I think we're playing the right way. We're continuing to build our identity," Sherwood said after the game, according to nhl.com.

The New York Islanders have had a good month of December overall with six wins, but have now lost two games in a row.
