It looked like it would be a scoreless first period when Lucas Raymond passed to teammate Patrick Kane, who scored the first goal of the game in the 20th minute of the NHL game.
The second goal of the match came a few minutes into the second period when Axel Sandin-Pellikka netted in the sixth minute, extending Detroit's lead.
Shortly afterwards, the away team reduced the deficit. Detroit responded when JT Compher made it 3-1, assisted by Sandin-Pellikka.
Patrick Kane became a two-goal scorer for Detroit when he scored to make it 4-1 in the third period - Kane's 500th NHL goal.
A few minutes later, Lucas Raymond got free and scored to make the final score 5-1 in the 19th minute.
