The two drones are said to have entered from Russia and crashed in the Latgale region, in the southeastern part of the country, on Thursday morning. Several reports of airspace violations reportedly occurred during the night, LSM writes.
The military has issued warnings and urged residents to stay indoors.
Minister of Defense Andris Sprūds told LSM that Russia's aggression in Ukraine has consequences in the wider region.
It seems likely that these are drones being directed at targets in Russia from the Ukrainian side. But these are assumptions, Sprūds says.
A fire at an oil depot in the city of Rēzekne is being investigated to see if additional drones may have crashed there.
Correction: A previous text incorrectly stated the origin of the drones.
