Sweden begins the Handball World Championship on November 27. The hope is that both middle-ninth Jenny Carlson and middle-sixth Anna Lagerquist can be back in action by then.
Jenny Carlson has a stress fracture and has not played since the last national team meeting in mid-October, while Lagerquist has been forced to rest for about two weeks.
It's an overuse injury from the fall, a precursor to a stress fracture. But I really think it's going in the right direction, says Anna Lagerquist.
Considering that the group stage begins with slightly easier matches – on paper – it is possible to have a little ice in your stomach, according to Tomas Axnér.
"The hope is still that they will be able to play in the championship. And then the question is whether we can both be ready for the first game or whether we should be a little cautious and give it another game," he says.
However, to cover for the upcoming two World Cup qualifiers against Denmark (on Thursday and Saturday respectively), Tomas Axnér has called up center back Vilma Matthijs Holmberg from French Chambray Touraine.
According to Axnér, it may be possible to include her in the World Cup squad next week.
The national handball team travels to Stuttgart on November 26 and then faces the Czech Republic (November 27), Cuba (November 29) and Brazil (December 1) in the group stage.
