At least two people have lost their lives during Wednesday's big celebration in Mexico City after the Mexican national team secured a place in the round of 16 of the World Cup, according to Mexican authorities.
A 19-year-old woman and a 44-year-old man died from lack of oxygen in the commotion, the city's health minister said.
Authorities have not yet confirmed reports of a third death, as reported by local media.
Mexico won the match against Ecuador 2–0.
