The police were called at 5:24 p.m. to a report that two cars had collided in the northwestern part of Luleå. Two people were taken by ambulance to Sunderby Hospital.
The police later announced on their website that two people had died in the accident. According to Region Norrbotten, the victims were a man in his 50s and a woman in her 20s.
The accident will be investigated by the police, who are collecting information from the scene and interviewing witnesses. The cars have been seized for technical examination.
