Two people have been arrested in a bribery case linked to the Stockholm Regional Transport Authority.

The District Court has granted the prosecutor's request to detain two people on probable-cause suspicion of aggravated giving and aggravated taking of a bribe, respectively.

It was also found that special reasons for detention existed, that is, the risk that they would obstruct the investigation while at large, and that one of them was a flight risk, says prosecutor Pontus Bergsten.

Assets of a company in the Mälar region have been ordered seized for 6 million kronor. A total of five people are suspected, according to documents at Stockholm District Court.

"If individuals have abused their trust and taxpayers' money, it is very serious," says Erik Norling, Head of Administration at the Stockholm Region Transport Administration, in a press release.
