His first goal, which meant 2–0, came early in the second period when he got the puck served to the left of the opponent's goal and could put it in more or less open net. Even the second goal, which came barely ten minutes later, the Swede shot in from close range to the left.

I think we battled and made some really nice goals today, said Nylander after the match, to nhl.com.

Seattle's coach Dan Bylsma stated on his part that the Toronto forward, who set his point record for the regular season last season, is hard to keep track of on the ice.

If we marked 88 (Nylander's jersey number) at the beginning of the match? Yes, we did, and twice we let him find open spaces and do what he can, and we paid for it, said Bylsma to nhl.com after the loss.

The night's harvest means that Nylander has made 12 points in eleven matches.

Another Swede who distinguished himself is goalkeeper Samuel Ersson, who saved 20 of 21 shots when his Philadelphia defeated St Louis 2–1.

Ersson's performance follows his team's previous match against Boston, where he kept a clean sheet. The 25-year-old from Falun emphasizes, however, that one must continue to work hard even ahead.

We can't be satisfied. We know we've got some wins now, but we must continue in the same style. We see what efforts we make and what level we need to be on to get results, said Ersson to nhl.com after the match.
