The murder took place on an open street in August last year and is described by the prosecutor as "execution-like" and "brutal". At least six shots were fired at the 25-year-old man.
Another shot went straight through a window to an apartment nearby. No one in the apartment was physically injured.
It's a young man who gets murdered at very close range and hit in the head with an automatic weapon. Moreover, it's ruthless because it happens in the middle of the day. A bullet goes through a window in an apartment where there is someone who is close to being hit, says Åberg.
According to the indictment, the 19-year-old acted as the shooter. The 20-year-old was not at the crime scene, but is considered to have been so involved in the planning and execution of the murder that he is also considered a perpetrator. Both are also charged with serious weapons offenses and attempted murder.
According to Åberg, they had no relationship to the victim and she believes that everything points to them having acted on behalf of someone else.
In the investigation, we have found chats on encrypted apps that strongly suggest that there is a client. The work of identifying those behind this will continue, she says.
Both men deny all criminal charges.
