Two men in their 30s and 40s have been prosecuted suspected of each one case of rape against a woman in Uppsala – which is said to have occurred ten years ago.

According to the investigation, the men are alleged to have had intercourse with the woman on various occasions when she was asleep and intoxicated. The suspected rapes are alleged to have taken place in an apartment in Gottsunda in August 2015, according to the Prosecution Authority.

The woman alerted the police directly after the incident and an investigation was initiated. But the case was dropped by the prosecutor in March 2016 due to lack of evidence.

In late 2024, the investigation was reopened and evidence emerged that led to the two men being detained in June 2025. However, one of them was released.

"The evidence that has emerged is so strong that I have decided to bring charges against both men," says Deputy Chief Prosecutor Joakim Gustafsson in a press release.
