The main suspect – a 19-year-old resident of northern France – had, according to French media, sworn loyalty to the Islamic terrorist group IS, something which he denies through his lawyer.
According to the newspaper Le Parisien, he planned to attack a public place. During a house search at the man's home, investigators allegedly found a homemade explosive vest, reports the radio network RTL.
The arrest led the police to two more men: one suspected of providing the 19-year-old with a fake weapon and one suspected of failing to report a terrorist crime.
Two of the men were formally charged in a Paris court on Sunday. The third is on bail but under surveillance.
