Strömmer says at a press conference that there was a man who wanted to come forward and ask questions.
The police understood that there were circumstances that made them want to take him aside. And they did, says Strömmer.
The police then took another person into custody. The police confirmed to SVT that the incident was directed at the minister.
Do you feel threatened now in retrospect?
I usually never talk about my own security situation, but I feel very calm and secure with how the police are working to ensure that we can carry out an election campaign in Sweden in a safe and secure manner, says Strömmer.
Has been arrested
The men, who are in their 40s, were arrested by police after an incident at around 9 p.m. and were detained overnight.
Two men have been arrested on suspicion of preparing to commit aggravated assault, police spokesman Johan Håkansson told TT.
Håkansson describes the whole thing as an "incident" in connection with Strömmer's visit. The arrest is said to have been undramatic.
One man was taken aside, and later another person was also taken into custody at the scene. The minister was then able to continue with his duties.
Johan Håkansson has no information about how those arrested feel about the suspicions.
Police say no one was physically injured and there was no danger to the public.
Gunnar Strömmer was in Gothenburg together with municipal councilor Axel Josefsson (M). Säpo has declined to comment on the incident.
“Warning bell”
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson (M) states that he has received more information about the incident, but he does not want to say what.
"I have spoken to Gunnar Strömmer and he is well. There was no drama at the scene. The police will tell the rest," says Kristersson.
But the fact that it happens in connection with election rallies is always a warning sign.
