The American attack on Iran was reportedly carried out with several bombs weighing almost 2,300 kilograms each, the military command center Central Command writes on X.
Iran has simultaneously informed the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that the area around the Bushehr nuclear power plant has been hit by a projectile.
"No injuries to the facility or personnel have been reported," the IAEA writes on X.
Several locations in Israel have reportedly been hit during Iran's latest attack on the country, according to the Israeli military. Earlier this evening, the military said Iran had fired several missiles and urged people in the affected areas to seek shelter.
In addition to Israel, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates say they are under attack.
In Iraq, a security source told AFP that the US embassy in the capital, Baghdad, had been hit by a drone attack. It was not yet clear if there were any injuries. An explosion was also heard in the city, according to a journalist at the news agency.
Just hours earlier, the embassy was attacked in a separate drone strike.
