The incident occurred on Thursday afternoon and is condemned by Jordan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which claims that the suspect is a Jordanian truck driver who has been working for the past three months to transport humanitarian aid to Gaza.
Israel's military has, as a result of the attack, demanded that the government stop the deliveries from Jordan to Gaza "until the investigation of the incident and the implementation of adjusted controls regarding Jordanian drivers is completed".
The demand to stop humanitarian deliveries comes at a time when the UN-backed IPC on August 22 stated that there is fully developed famine in certain areas of Gaza.
