According to the preliminary investigation, around 20 animals have been kept in inadequate conditions in a home for an extended period.
Veterinary examinations show that several of the animals were malnourished, sick or had untreated injuries.
The two people already had bans on keeping animals at the time of the incident, after extensive deficiencies in their animal handling were previously discovered. Despite the ban, they continued to have animals, which led to the County Administrative Board raising the alarm after an inspection in September 2024, when all the animals were taken into custody.
The tropicarium that the two defendants previously ran was closed in 2019.
