Two Killed in Head-On Collision Near Norwegian Border in Älvdalen

A woman in her 65s and a man in his 75s have died after a head-on collision between two passenger cars near the Norwegian border in Älvdalen municipality, according to the police. Both persons are Norwegian citizens.

In total, seven people were involved in the accident. Two men, one woman and two children are all being treated for minor injuries, the police stated on Saturday.

According to team leader Konstantina Sarigiannidou at SOS Alarm, a total of four helicopters were sent to the scene. Two from Norway and two from Sweden, reports SVT News Dalarna.

The accident occurred about half a mile from the Norwegian border on highway 70 at around 3:30 pm on Saturday.

The police have initiated a preliminary investigation into gross negligence in traffic. The vehicles have also been seized for technical examination.
