The two skiers were off-piste, outside regulated areas in the French Alps, when the avalanche was triggered, according to authorities in La Grave.
One guide was injured, while two other skiers escaped unharmed.
The avalanche risk is high in the Alps, and the second-highest warning level has been issued in several areas.
