Two dead in avalanche in Hemsedal, Norway

The avalanche alarm in the ski resort went off just after 11 a.m. Initially, one person was reported missing and found about an hour later.

A total of four people were affected, it later emerged. Flightradar showed that rescue and ambulance helicopters were dispatched, according to NTB.

"Unfortunately, two of those involved have been confirmed dead," Norwegian police announced, according to the newspaper VG and others.

The extent of the injuries to the others involved has not yet been clarified, but the police told NRK that all four have been recovered and that life-saving measures are underway at the scene.
