The avalanche alarm at the ski resort went off just after 11 a.m. Four people were swept away by the snow in the Halsane area of Hemsedal, and a woman in her 20s has been confirmed dead.
Both the man and the woman are reported to have lived in the area and were part of a group of seven.
A rescue helicopter and several Red Cross volunteers participated in the search. The extent of injuries to the others involved in the avalanche has not been clarified, but all have been recovered.
