The explosion occurred in Sant'Anatolia di Borgorose, just under ten miles east of Rome, on Wednesday morning.
According to Italian media, a woman in her 60s and her son in his 30s died.
The building has completely collapsed, images on social media show.
In 2023, three people died in an explosion at the same facility, public service broadcaster Rai reports.
